SCCARA will be operating Field Day as Class F from the Radio Room at the Silicon Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross beginning at 11:00 a.m. PDT on Saturday, June 28.
Even if you are not yet licensed, we welcome you. We will have a Get on the Air (GOTA) station available along with an experienced operator to help you. All ages are welcome but a parent or guardian is needed for those under 18. This is a great time to communicate around the country, and in some cases around the world, without the internet or telephone network — just your radio and antenna.
We also welcome non-member Hams to operate with us. While we expect to be able to accommodate all wishing to operate, but members will be given priority in the schedule.
There are currently abundant opportunities to operate available in all modes. As we start to firm up our strategy for the number of radios, modes, and bands, we definitely would like to gauge how many members and visitors are interested in operating with us. CW operators are especially needed.
Doug N6DPO is helping to collect a list of operators, modes you would like to operate in, and about how much time you would like to spend operating. You can email Doug at dougowens100@icloud.com. Please drop a note to him. We’ll get back with you to firm up our planned schedule in early June.
